When defibrillators paddles aren’t available,
doctors sometimes resort to restarting heart with chemicals. And, while they may prescribe adrenaline,
caffeine is the shot of medicine for me.
While doing work on Sunday, I decided that I might brighten the dreary
atmosphere with a widely marketed stimulant known as coffee. To make it more interesting, (and keep with
the theme of my daily challenge) I decided to drink ten cups within the course
of 12 hours, and not single drop of water.
While this may not be unusual for some people, for a ‘cup a day’ guy
like me, it was enough to send my heart racing.
After my fifth cup, I decided it might be an interesting experiment to
observe the crash the next day.
As I woke up at 8 on Monday after only 3 hours of
sleep, I realized I was still high. The
comedown took almost until noon to fully take effect, and the massive headache
I had expected was at best a dull throbbing. I wonder, now, exactly how much I will have to
drink in a day to feel the full power of withdrawal in the next.
Now mostly sober,
Sam O.
